HOOPS HAVEN’S KNEE-JERK ANALYSIS

Best first-round game: Bernards at Bound Brook. Excellent big-man matchup between three-year starters Mark Kolb and Denzel Sanders. Nobody in Somerset County (except perhaps Ridge’s Taylor) promotes his team as well as Crusader coach Anthony Melesurgo. He wanted a home game and got it. This is his chance to back it up

Star Ledger 2007 Post Season Notebook

(Everett Merrill, Star Ledger)

Team on the Rise:  Three seasons ago, Bound Brook was 2-21 under first year coach Anthony Melesurgo. Today, the Crusaders are on the upswing playing the county's most exciting brand of basketball. Bound Brook claimed its second consecutive Skyland Championship and has qualified for the state tournament for three consecutive seasons. Since Melesurgo has taken over the Crusaders have improved upon each season. 2-21, 12-12, 15-11, 16-10

'07 Jerry Carino in his Hoops Haven

"Bound Brook and its Coach Anthony Melesurgo, play a lot like Bobby Gonzalez and the Seton Hall Pirates. Breakneck tempo; maniacal fullo court trap; bombs away; a bit helter-skelter at times, it is fun to watch!"
