The Crusaders Basketball Program appreciates the support that we get from fans throughout the season. Nights like Crusader Basketball fans packing in Florence '06 and Academy Charter in '08 for our state tournament game means a great deal to our program.

FROM COURIER NEWS:

GOOD JOB STUDENT SECTION

SUBHED: Fired-up fans

It's only December, but enthusiasm is running high in the local gyms. On opening night Watchung Hills brought a sizable contingent of fans to Franklin, and don't think that didn't make a difference as Watchung Hills rallied from 14 points down in the second quarter to win 47-43.

A couple of guys in the student section even wore the "Warrior" headdress as seen on the school's logo.

"What I think is really cool is the football players are friends with the guys on the basketball team. Our basketball guys went to all the football games and now they're returning the favor," Watchung Hills coach Gene McAteer said. "I knew the kids were excited about our season when at a scrimmage somebody showed up in the Indian headgear."

A raucous crowd greeted Delaware Valley on Tuesday night in Bound Brook. The Terriers had better get used to it; their first seven games are away from home.

"We don't play at home until January 8. That doesn't help a young team," coach Eric Jacobs said. "But you've got to play the games. We'll tough it out. We'll be all right."

He's right. They prevailed in overtime to improve to 3-0.

Players from Middlesex, Manville and South Hunterdon were at that game as well. When they walked in, the Crusader crazies greeted them with a "go home" chant.

Gotta love this time of year.
